Electricity, as we all know is an extremely diverse and flexible energy form. It has been adapted over the last 200 or so years to the point where we can now use it for pretty much anything. One of the first applications of electrical power that was publicly available was LED lighting when the first incandescent light bulb was invented in the 1870s.

The electric overhaul of society obviously brought many fresh new dangers with it, but it eliminated some of the old ones, like the naked flames of gas lighting that was commonly used in homes and factories then.

The Joule heating effect that can be found in light bulbs is also present in electric heating. Electric heating has been thought of as wasteful in the past because in order to create that heat energy, heat has already been used in the power stations

Denmark (among a few other countries) has issued a new law restricting electric heating use in new buildings, if allowed at all. As well as heating, electricity provides a hugely beneficial source of refrigeration. As temperatures get hotter, the demand for air conditioning gets higher, increasing the amount of energy used, and so climate change is increasing in a snowball effect.

Another area that depends on electricity to function is telecommunication. The electric telegraph was in fact one of the first ways in which electricity was used successfully.

In the 1860s, electricity had made global communication possible with the first intercontinental telegraph systems (this was of course before the telephone) and then the first transatlantic ones. Since then, satellite communication and optical fibre have taken a share of the communications market, but electricity is sure to remain a vital part of the process.

Electromagnetism is most visibly apparent in the electric motor which of course provides an efficient and clean power motive. A motor that stays in one place, like a winch can easily be powered by a stationary power supply, but a moving motor like an electric car or scooter must carry its power supply along with it in the form of a battery, or it can gain electrical charge from sliding contact like with a pantograph.

The transistor is undoubtedly one of the most important breakthrough inventions of the 1900s. All modern electrical circuits use one to direct the right amount of electricity flow to the right application. Several billion tiny transistors can fit into only a few centimetres.

by Ferdinand Emy

The 1/10 scale refers to the proportion by which the RC car is built to the full-size vehicle which it is modeled after.

1/10 scale Acme RC cars are ten times smaller than their full-size counterparts. First, 1/10 scale Acme RC cars are popular because of their scale or proportion. 1/10 scale Acme RC cars are among some of the most popular RC vehicles. The Cyclone is another example of an entry level 1/10 scale Acme RC car that is known for delivering good speed and reliability.

There are also larger size RC cars as well. Whether this is your first RC car or you have been a lifelong fan, the purchase of a new car can still involve making numerous decisions. There are two primary 1/10 scale Acme RC cars that are quite popular with many hobbyists. Which type of RC car will best suit your needs? There are so many decisions that must be made when choosing a RC car. Acme brand RC cars are widely considered to be among the highest quality RC cars produced and marketed.

While this certainly may seem as though it is quite small, 1/10 scale Acme RC cars are not nearly as small as 1/18 scale RC cars. Unlike the nitro buggy; however, bear in mind that the Cyclone was originally designed for on road racing rather than off-road racing. These cars are known for delivering excellent power and value as well as for lasting a long time. Both types of 1/10 scale Acme RC cars are excellent for beginners. The buggy is considered to be a good car to get started with if you are just beginning your RC car collection.

There are even some RC cars that are built to an even smaller scale. Another reason that 1/10 scale Acme RC cars are so known is because of the Acme brand. If you are looking for a RC car that will be well worth the investment then Acme is definitely a good brand to consider purchasing. The price for 1/10 scale Acme RC cars may be a bit steeper than other brands or even other scales of cars, but they are definitely a good investment to consider making. One is the nitro buggy.

This is the case for a wide variety of different reasons. 1/10 scale Acme RC cars fall into a mid-line category in terms of scale and proportion.

Joel Owens asked:

Geeks can’t help raving about them. Diehard fans are drooling over them. Moviegoers are awestruck by their sleek bodies. Before you get other ideas, let me lay it down straight: James Bond gadgets are the most amazing artistic creation that ever graced the silver screen aside from James Bond himself.

Half a century of ******* has brought a hefty clutch of cool gadgets which are more than what meets the eye. In the hands of a professional spy like Bond, anything ordinary becomes lethal. A common-looking watch becomes a tracking device, and a harmless pen can literally turn into something mightier than the sword.

To satisfy your burning curiosity, I’ve listed the top ten James Bond gadgets that made us see all 22 movies of 007’s conquest to save the world.

10. Garrote Watch

There’s nothing like a timepiece that tells you the time and also serves as a way to annihilate an enemy. The garrote watch from the 007 franchise, From Russia with Love definitely proves that lethal weapons come in small packages. A thin wire can be drawn from this wristwatch truly making handy when James Bond needed to annihilate a nemesis named Red Grant.

9. Electro-Magnetic RPM Controller (Diamonds are Forever)

This is one of those gadgets you would truly wish to have existed. It is a ring that, when used, ascertains a jackpot at the slot machine. You might not be able to protect yourself from enemies by this, but you’ll definitely protect yourself from being broke anytime.

8. Pen Gun (Never Say Never)

Now, this gadget is the motherload of trickery and danger. Concealed in the form of a fountain pen with a printed image of the Union Flag of UK, it can fire an explosive charge on an enemy. In the movie, Bond used his pen gun to foil Fatimah Bush, but before he finally did, the gadget took some time to fire. Despite that, this one clever gadget can save you at the last minute.

7. Safe-cracking Device (Moonraker)

There are times when Bond has to play the bad guy to save the world like stealing weapons and what-not from enemies. Using the safe-cracking device with the technology to render an x-ray of the safe to be cracked, the device is concealed in a harmless looking cigarette case. No wonder, Bond was able to steal a considerable lot because of this device.

6. Polarizing Gadgets (A View to Kill)

Through this gadget, Bond becomes an omnipotent killing machine that can be stealth enough to know what’s behind closed doors. It allows the ability to see clearly through tinted glass.

5. Door Decoder (A View to Kill)

In a career in spying, one needs to learn how to ***** the most complex codes and open the most guarded doors. Through this door decoder, a technology developed by Q Branch, Bond can ***** any door open no matter how strict the security may be. It can fit into any keypad locked electronic door, finds the correct combination and flashes it on screen. Getting into tightly-secured rooms is never difficult when you have this gadget.

4. Aston Martin DBS V12 (Casino Royale)

This is the personification of classic and beauty in four wheels mode. The Aston Martin DBS V12 might not have the hoots and whistles like an adaptive camouflage or anything as fancy as that, but its features are just enough to stop the villain from hoarding more money and eventually causing more worldly troubles. Aston comes with items such as a defibrillator and anti-poison/chemical combi-pens. These add-ons truly made Bond’s life easier in his conquest to save the world.

3. BMW 750il (Tomorrow Never Dies)

BMW is the car of the elites, but through the magic and genius of Branch Q, this baby has been transformed from luxurious to deadly. It contains a surprising number of modifications including bullet-proof windows and body, tear gas features emitted from the sides of the car, mini-missiles coming out of its sunroof, metal spike dispensers in the rear, re-inflatable tires, and lethal grenades (whew). Being a true James Bond vehicle, the BMW 750il can be accessed only by Bond himself through his high-end mobile phone. If anyone else dares to lay a finger on its door handles, this BMW can deliver strong electric shocks enough to make anyone pass out. This is one touchy car.

2. BMW Z8 (The World is Not Enough)

We first caught sight of this pimped James Bond vehicle in The World is Not Enough. This remote-controlled car is equipped with missiles and a set of weaponry that become really handy when James Bond had to destroy one of the helicopters in the film. The BMW Z8 is absolutely a mammoth of a vehicle.

We’ve seen Bond steer, ride and strut these high tech vehicles. With the release of his next flick, Quantum of Solace, more James Bond vehicles are sure to grace the screen. After all, a James Bond film is not complete without some roaring machines.

1. Aston Martin V12 Vanquish (Die Another Day)

This car doesn’t only bridge the gap between the road and tracks. Staying true to its signature innovativeness and sleek design, this Aston plays tricks on your eyes with its awesome additional option, Adaptive Camouflage (the what?). In simpler and less complicated English, it just means that this beauty can literally disappear before your very eyes. Without magic or frills, the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish uses “tiny cameras on all sides to project the image they see onto a light emitting polymer skin on the opposite side”. Once again, in plain and less complicated English, the technology of the car makes it invisible to the ***** eye.

It’s beautiful and dandy, but the car also has deadly tricks behind its front-grille. Armed with a bevy of other cool James Bond gadgets, the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish also boasts of missiles, machine guns, spiked tires, and target-seeking shotguns. When all these are not enough to send to destroy the enemies, James Bond could always use the car’s customary ejector seat. Real sleek, isn’t it?

Gabriel Adams asked:

Over time, the media has elevated the popularity of various vehicles by highlighting some of the fictional rides that have graced the pages of novels, the lyrics of songs, the 30-minute TV show, and the silver screen. Whether Fred and Wilma are peddling around in their signature rockmobile, James Bond gets away with his gadget cars or the Beach Boys bring life to the Little Deuce Coupe, it’s sometimes hard to forget that many of these fictional cars really don’t exist. Below are a few examples that have gained fame throughout the years.

Batmobile

In both the Batman television shows and movies, the superhero-on-the-go often hopped into a sleek, customized vehicle that provided protection for his Bruce Wayne alter ego. Equipped with heavy armor plating and a high performance engine, the evolution of the Batman series displayed increasing levels of gadgets. To reach increased speeds, the Batmobile sometimes offered rocket boosts, while additional weapons and a computerized assistance helped to keep villains at a distance.

KITT

The talking car that aided David Hasselhoff’s character, Michael Knight, navigate through a sea of enemies and bad guys was a Pontiac Trans Am. The television series focused on a high-tech approach to entertain the audience. Numerous fans watched the show just to see what KITT would do or say next. The popularity of the show even helped to boost Pontiac car sales as the verbal wonder could drive without a passenger and even displayed its own set of entertaining stunts.

Christine

Stephen King has produced numerous novels that have become popular movies; the same is true with the 1958 Plymouth Fury that seemed to have a mind of its own. Christine was the name given to the car that appeared in the horror novel (with the same name) published in 1983. Driven by supernatural forces, the antique auto created havoc in both the novel and the movie.

Herbie

Several Disney movies and cartoons have focused on Herbie the Lovebug, which was a Volkswagon Beetle that made its first appearance in 1969. Just like Christine, the red, white, and blue striped car with a “53″ on its side could also drive without assistance and had a reputation for acting on its own. Most of the time, the car was featured in some sort of racing competition.

General Lee

The television series and movie named the Dukes of Hazzard showed main characters, Bo and Luke Duke soaring through the air, causing mischief with their get-rich schemes. Their vehicle of choice was a colorful Dodge Charger that allowed the cousins to complete high jumps in almost every episode. The car is also known for its controversial Confederate flag decoration.

Curious how many gadgets not only will improve our life but will help nature in the same time? Read the top of the 3 most useful solar gadgets.

Art Haines’ Solar DIY Car Kit The Art Haines’ Solar DIY Car Kit will enable you to build your own Electric Vehicle (Low Speed Vehicle – usually 25 miles per hour in the U.S.A) without special tools. The solar powered car vehicle is recharged from the sun or can be plugged in. The Art Haines’ Solar DIY Car was built using surplus and new parts, aluminum extrusions, styrofoam, wood and ABS plastic. Building your own solar car will help reduce pollution.

Solar-Powered Radio & Flashlight with Rechargeable Dynamo The Solar-Powered Radio offers you listening pleasure anywhere. You just need a little sun power. This radio is 4-Way Powered: solar, dynamo generator, AC adapter, or 2 AA batteries. Solar-Powered Radio & Flashlight is a great travel gadget. You will be able to listen your favorite radio shows and if you need to see better in the dark the flashlight is included. The features for this cool gadget are AM & FM reception — AM range: 525-1650 KHz, FM range: 88-108 MHz; Built-in dynamo generator with manual winding lever, Built-in flashlight (with clear, amber and red lenses); Hi-fi speaker and 3.5mm earphone jack. The size is compact (6″L x 3.25″H x 1.65D) to be easy to carry it.

Solio Universal Hybrid Solar Charger Solio, the Universal “Hybrid” Charger is powerful enough to charge all of your handheld electronic products at home or on the move, anywhere under the sun. Solio is a Hybrid because it can accept power from either the wall socket or Sun storing this energy within Solio’s internal rechargeable battery. When fully charged Solio can store enough power to charge a typical cell phone or an iPod Nano at least two times. With this solar gadget you can charge: Cell Phones, iPod / MP3 players, Smart Phones / PDA’s, Game Players, GPS’s and Digital Camera’s. Solio will charge your device at the same rate as your conventional charger. Charging Solio’s internal battery takes 8-10 hours of direct sunlight. When charging a cell phone directly from the sun, 60 minutes of sunlight will provide approximately 25 minutes of talk time and ten hours of standby time. If you run out of sun but have a conventional power source nearby you can use the included wall adapter, Solio will fully charge in approximately 4 hours.

In conclusion using solar gadgets will help reduce the pollution. The solar gadgets are not expensive and the best part is that solar energy is free. So we all should use as much as possible solar devices.

Many gadgets for the car are making their presence felt. Not just as a novelty but also as a safety measure.

Gadgets for the Car – Making Life More Comfortable

Cars with automatic window shutters are a rarity and come at a premium no doubt. For the manual roll up window mechanism there is an add-on in the market. The automatic rollup car window gadget is making life easier for many people. These useful little gizmos come with attachment that also detect the brightness outside and switch on or off the headlights of the car. You can set the level of darkness outside to trigger the switching. When you go through a tunnel the headlights will turn on and when you exit it the headlights will turn off. The other little gizmos are electronic sensors that will turn on and off the windscreen wipers whenever the screen gets frosty with dew or rain.

One gadget for the car that Gadgets.in found quite useful is the rear camera that is connected to the rear view mirror. The mirror has a small LCD screen which displays the entire rear section of the car. This enables the driver to see the rear with ease irrespective of anyone in the rear seat blocking his or her view through the rear view mirror. Some people are developing this gadget to record certain periods while the car is moving. In case of an accident the driver can save the recording to replay it as a support for his claim of not being responsible for the mishap. If the driver does not save the clipping then the video will erase the clip a few minutes after the vehicle has stopped.

Other gadgets include state of the art stereo radio players that cone with inbuilt DVD players and CD players. The latest in the range of IPods is the iPod dock that fits into the coffee cup holder. This iPod dock fits snugly into the cup holder and rotates enough to face the controls of the iPod so the driver has easy accessibility to them. Next in the same line of car gadgets is the iPod FM transmitter. This transmits the music on an FM channel that the car stereo FM layer is tuned to creating music for all in the car to enjoy.
