Many people are concerned about their future heating bills with the price of fossil fuels expected to continue rising. When it comes to heating your home biomass has quickly become the favorite alternative of a lot of people. I know this will come out sounding a little crazy but the preferred fuel for this alternate home heating system is corn.

The whole world knows how bad the United States’ oil addiction has become. Toss in the negative impact that burning fossil fuels has on the environment and it becomes startlingly clear that a change has to happen. As we continue the search for an alternative energy source biomass stands out as the popular choice for many. Biomass is simply energy that is derived from the burning of bio fuels, such as animal waste and excess crops.

It is a sad thing that, where there are so many people starving throughout the world, we as a country have a surplus of corn. When used as a biomass fuel corn stands out for its superb quality. Corn is so excellent because there is a massive reserve of energy waiting to be released from within each and every kernel. And when used in conjunction with a heating system, corn can produce the same amount of heat as a traditional furnace but at a much lower cost.

Biomass corn energy is produced by burning dry shelled corn as the fuel. The corn used for the bio fuels does not need to be the same as its edible counterpart that is of higher quality. If the corn is free from husk fibers and is dry it really doesn’t matter what type of corn it is.

Corn is used in much the same way as one would use wood to heat their home. Using a fired stove to burn the corn instead of wood is all you need. Now if you are picturing yourself standing on the frozen ground with a shovel then you are happily mistaken. These day corn bio fuel is delivered to your home where it is stored in it’s own storage tank. A door is opened on your storage tank when the thermostat sense a drop in temperature that means your heating system needs more fuel. It is as simple as that, you furnace gets a preset amount of the corn bio fuel and, Bob’s your uncle, you have more fire and more heat. This heat is then pumped in to your home via the duct system that you would use for an electrical heating system.

Using corn to heat your home can will save you as much as half on the price of oil based energy, 30% of coal energy and a whopping 70% on heat produced from natural gas. Instead of buying your energy from a utility company you could switch to burning corn bio fuels and save up to 75% on your home heating bills.

When it was first mentioned many people thought that this idea was pretty “out there”. Truthfully this is the most searched type of furnace on the internet today. This will give you some idea as to how many people are interested in changing to this type of fuel.

The world over is now taking seriously the problems of airborne toxins due to the relentless pollution of our planet. We now recognize the repercussions of our former times, and are uneasy about global warming and our protecting ozone layer. Corporations and governments must now regard the effect that long-term use of petroleum has had on our globe.

A huge step to start the healing process is to manufacture alternative fuel cars, these include cars and trucks that produce much less or zero carbon emissions of petroleum.

Alternative fuel cars are becoming ever more popular due to the financial benefits. People are preserving more cash operating and owning them, not wasting their wallets at the pumps. Some alternative fuels used are ethanol, propane, solar, and battery, just to mention some. For those that like large 4×4 pick-up trucks and caress the feel of horsepower under the hood, don’t worry! Installing a extra fuel conversion kit is not as painful as it may seem, or as pricey as you may suppose. Wouldn’t it be great to keep your dream machine rolling without keeping your eyes loyal to the fuel gauge?

Driving alternative cars, you will collect many more miles to the gallon, and also be putting forth your contribution for future generations to come. Going green is becoming a new way of knowledge for many of us. The production of alternative fuel cars may be just the root of a new world of transportation. Automotive industries must lead the new fight to help conserve our globe and switch past destruction.

The sale of alternative fuel cars can also earn the client a tax bonus, depending on the government. This influence is helping out a lot of people when it comes time to purchase a modern vehicle, or when they trade their outdated one in.

Biodiesel and Hybrid cars are considered alternative fuel cars. Check out the website for more information.

The home heating market has been dominated by oil and gas heating systems, however wood heating is on a revival with wood pellet stoves and wood pellet boilers. Wood pellets make it possible to use wood in a much more efficient manor to heat your home.

Using logs to heat a building is practice, which has been carried out for thousands of years. Due to this fact, many today still see burning wood as a very basic way to heat a home and not really a practical solution. Well wood pellets and pellet stoves and boilers can change this.

The problem is burning wood in log form does not fit in with the modern lifestyle, and therefore could never hold significant market share with competition from oil and gas burners. Sure, people still burn logs in their fireplace, however its more for a decorative and additional source of heat, practically never is it the main source of heat for the property.

The option of burning logs for most people is simply not realistic; therefore this is where wood pellet fuel can bridge the gap. Wood pellets in pellet stoves and boilers are a very low maintenance way to use wood and much cheaper than using oil or gas.

All pellet stoves and wood pellet boilers are designed to hold at least a days worth of fuel pellets. However many systems can hold more than this, and with an external hopper attached enough fuel pellets for a whole years can be stored on site.

The way a wood pellet stove works is to act as a hot radiator and also has an inbuilt fan to blow hot air into the room. If the home is vented from room to room it is possible for the pellet stove to spread its heat all over the property. The works best with a property where the pellet stove is very central within the property and each room is within the vicinity.

There are a number of different types of gas furnaces available today. If you are in the market for a new furnace, it may seem difficult selecting the appropriate furnace, but all it really takes is understanding the differences between two furnaces, the High Efficiency Gas Furnace and the Mid Efficiency also known as Standard, Gas Furnace.

Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) is the measurement used by governments and furnace manufacturers to measure a furnace’s heating efficiency. This measurement helps homeowners determine the best gas furnace for their home. For instance, a furnace that has an 80% AFUE rating means that it converts 80% of the fuel to supply the heat while the other 20% is lost out of the chimney. To help you decide which furnace is best for your home, below are the main distinctions between a High Efficiency and Mid Efficiency Gas Furnace.

High Efficiency Gas Furnace

The high efficiency furnace costs more than a mid efficiency furnace as it has a higher efficiency rating. This rating indicates that the boiler overall is much more energy efficient which means that a homeowner will save money during the cold months. The new energy efficient furnaces will have a rating of at least 90% or higher. The higher the rating, the more money you will save on your heating bill. Experts recommend a 90% furnace rating for most homes. Consult with your heating company for more detailed specifications.

In many states, 90% or greater efficiency will allow homeowners to qualify for a special energy rebate. Even if the temperatures rises and falls, the amount of money that you will save on the few cold days can still save a lot of money. If your ductwork is not properly maintained to prevent the impact of the cold, you could lose up to 35% of the heat which will increase your heating bill.

Mid Efficiency Gas Furnace

Many experts suggest that a high efficiency furnace is not required if you live in a region with a mild climate or if you will not be living in your home for more than 5 years as you will not be recouping the cost of a high efficiency furnace. Mid efficiency furnaces have a fuel utilization efficiency of about 80 – 85%. The Government now wants homeowners to have gas furnaces with a rating of at least 80%. If you live in a relatively mild climate where it really does not get that cold, the mid efficiency gas furnace may be the better choice because you will not be using that much energy.

Other than living in very mild climates, it is beneficial to get a high efficiency gas furnace. You will spend more for the purchase; however, over time you will see substantial savings as your energy bills will be greatly reduced. Before you purchase a furnace, it is essential that you compare the different types and brands of furnaces. When you compare furnaces you will learn about each type and their benefits that include the efficiency rating, as well as their size, installation directions, power, and other important features.

You should also figure out how much money you can afford to spend on a furnace and the cost of installation. Do not disregard the advantages of speaking with other homeowners who have purchased a furnace for their home. Talking to others will allow you get advice from people who have had experience using the furnace. Choosing the appropriate furnace such as from gas companies in Toronto will ensure that you get the best gas furnace for your home.

With over 60 years of experience, these professional contractors provide a wide range of services that will maximize the effectiveness in your home management. Our dedicated team has qualified experience in installing boilers Toronto, air conditioning, heating, and furnace Toronto.

You might not know it, but the current cost of natural gas can affect how much your electricity costs, even if you don't burn gas or use power generated from it. That's because the cost of fuel makes up about a third of the generation cost for electricity, and in Texas, most of that electricity is generated via natural gas. Since so much of the industry uses natural gas, your power bill goes up when the price of this fossil fuel does.

You might not know it, but the current cost of natural gas can affect how much your electricity costs, even if you don’t burn gas or use power generated from it. That’s because the cost of fuel makes up about a third of the generation cost for electricity, and in Texas, most of that electricity is generated via natural gas. Since so much of the industry uses natural gas, your power bill goes up when the price of this fossil fuel does. That can cause some real confusion if you’re not sure what’s going on, and you may see unexplained price increases.

The Texas Electric Choice Act of 1999 allows retail electricity providers to make changes to their prices twice each year, basing those changes on the current cost of natural gas. This lets the market and customers benefit, because the price of power always reflects market conditions. If you’re not happy with the price of your power, you have the option to pick a new supplier if you can find one that will offer you better terms. The Act, simply put, lets Texans choose where their power comes from. That allows you to pick a supplier that generates power the way you choose – helpful for people who are worried about the impact of their usage.

So, how is that price arrived at? First, a composite natural gas price will be calculated, using what’s called the NYMEX Henry-Hub natural gas index. The closing forward twelve month prices are averaged for every business day over a ten day period. Then, the price that’s been arrived at will be examined. If it’s over four percent higher than the price that was used to set the current fuel factor, the provider might file for an increase in their prices. It’s unlikely that the prices will be reduced from the current levels, but they may increase.

The percentage increase in the price of natural gas will be applied to the current fuel factor, creating a new fuel factor. A new factor becomes effective in either twenty or forty-five days, depending on whether or not a hearing has been requested by the electricity provider. If a hearing is requested, the longer period is when the factor becomes effective, and if the hearing is successful, then the prices go up, affecting your utility bill.

While increases may seem confusing, they’re really quite simple. If natural gas costs more, so does all Texas electricity, even that which is not produced using natural gas. Next time you see something confusing on your bill, keep this in mind. It might help to explain a few things.

Author: Jerry Dyess has written article for the Texas Energy market for the past 7 years. Get more information on Texas Power rates.

Every year, there are many Canadians who purchase used cars from the United States. The reasons Canadians buy a used car from the US can include: they found a car at a cheaper price, they located a specialty car that cannot be found in Canada, or they are buying a used car from a private seller. If you are planning to buy a used car from the US and bring it to Canada, it is important to understand what the process involves so you do not get held up at the border crossing.

Used cars that are at least 15 years old are allowed to be imported from the U.S. without having to be checked to see if they meet Canada’s emission and safety standards. The age of the vehicle is determined from the month the vehicle was built. Transport Canada’s Registrar of Imported Vehicles (RIV) program is responsible for making sure all imported vehicles meet Canada’s safety standards. Used cars, such as used Hondas that are imported from the US are normally carried by a flat bed truck or driven across the border. Once you have purchased the car, you have to go to that particular state’s Department of Motor Vehicle office to acquire that state’s title. On the state’s motor vehicle department website, you will find the information on how to get temporary registration for the car. Remember, before you can travel with the vehicle, you will need to provide proof of insurance because it is illegal to drive in the US without auto insurance.

To be permitted entry into Canada with a used car, you will need the copy of the vehicle’s foreign registration document. This document provides information about the county of export and the age of the vehicle. You should also have a bill of sale that details information about the vehicle such as the vehicle identification number, make, year, and model, the names and addresses of the seller and purchaser and how much you paid for the used car.

When arriving at the border, a customs official will enter the car’s data into the RIV program. There will be a registration fee of $182.00, except for Quebec, which is $197.00. If the car has to be brought up to Canadian standards, you will have 45 days to do so. You won’t be able to register and license the car in Canada until it is modified and inspected. When you have met all of the import criteria, customs will provide you with a Vehicle Import Form, which is given to your province’s licensing officials. Once the used car meets the standards and passes inspection, you can then get the car registered. As well, you will be responsible for such fees as provincial sales tax on the amount you paid for the vehicle and registration fees.

When buying a car from the US to bring to Canada, it is important to remember that you will not be able to secure leasing or a financing plan, or qualify for any rebates. When purchasing a used car from the US instead of Canada, you have to be aware of the extra fees associated with the import. As with any purchase, always do your research so you do not end up having your car denied access at the Canadian border.

Your car dealership offers a diverse selection of high-quality vehicles, including used cars, trucks, SUVs, minivans, and commercial cars. Choose your dream automobile from both new and honda dealership Toronto to satisfy your driving needs.

With an expected increase in demand of electric cars and also a stress on adopting greener vehicles by the European Union and Governments across the world, the research seems to be in the right direction. And nothing could have been better for Volvo at this time.

The electric car model is based on the looks of C-30 model of Volvo cars. While the prototype is not the first one to be showed, the fact that this will be displayed at the Detroit Auto Show in 2010 clearly establishes this prototype or C30 variant as the one that has been given a go-ahead by the development team after completing their testing and improvements.

Volvo seems to have come far after displaying the first variant of electric car in September 2009. The company has confirmed that the car on display at Detroit Auto Show will feature complete interiors. If you look at this from an analyst’s point of view then this particular variant of electric car from Volvo looks like a stable prototype that could go on to become a commerically marketable brand for Volvo. Infact, the company expects that they will be able to commercially market the electric car C30 by 2011. For sure, this is another indication of the confidence of Volvo with the current level of developed C30.

If all goes well, Volvo expects the C30s to be commercially available from 2011, and this is by far a very strong message from Volvo and clearly shows their preparedness and confidence in the electric car segment. Only time will tell if there are other manufacturers who will be able to market commerically.

On an analysis of the emerging electric car market that is being driven by dense research by bigger players, we can conclude that Volvo has made considerable progress in achieving the important milestone of developing a commercially feasible electric car. Coming close to similar successful developments of Toyota with Prius, it all looks very green for electric cars. Future looks really green with so many electric cars coming out in Detroit Auto Show.
