Lexus has strategically combated its brand view of catering to a particular lifestyle and has come out with new Lexus CT200h. The idea that Lexus, just like Mercedes-Benz, serves the more mature car buyers has been pushed aside with the arrival of sporty Lexus CT200h, which gives a much needed breath of fresh air. This car is sure to get Lexus more buyers from diverse market segments.

The CT200h is a full hybrid, which means it will run in three modes, electric, petrol, and electric and petrol combined. The exterior of the Lexus CT200h has been designed for the European market. The L-finesse design philosophy of Lexus is visible in the CT200h. Its distinctive sharp edges design sets it apart from other premier cars in the same segment. The interior has leather upholstery, and metal accents.

Unique deign of asymmetrical dashboard of Lexus CT 200h is taken from the LF-Ch concept Lexus. Expert designers have split the dashboard in which they have fixed the 8 inch LCD multi display screen in the upper portion and in the lower portion, they have fixed the operation zone which includes Remote Touch multi-function controller and shift lever.

In Normal mode, the car can operate on battery at the speed of 28 mph. The EV mode forces the car to rely only on battery power for 1.2-mile stretches. Switching the car to Eco dulls throttle response, and maximises the climate-control system to save more fuel. The Sport mode is the most exciting mode, in which it tightens up the steering, ups throttle aggressiveness, and lowers the stability-control threshold.

Despite its compact design, the CT200h is quite roomy inside. All the passengers will sit comfortably in the car. The boot is also quite spacious, and with the rear seats folded, it expands tremendously.

The CT200h has been built on a new platform, and has a double wishbone, and trailing arm rear suspension system. This is expected to make the ride more comfortable, and the CT200h should handle well on all road surfaces.

As a premier hatchback, and a full hybrid, the CT200h will create a niche in the family hatchback car market. Lexus will be targeting the younger generation with this car, which is why it has different drive modes. There are no fuel consumption or emission figures released yet for the CT200h. However, it is expected that this will be a fuel-efficient car, and will have very low emissions. In electric-only mode, the emissions will be zero. Therefore, the CT200h is expected to have emissions below 100g/km, which should make it free from road tax in the UK.

Lexus has excluded the rear wishbone suspension in the CT 200h and put a lightweight trailing arm.

The ‘most lucrative’ speed camera in Britain has been named and shamed. Not surprisingly, the local community is outraged by the findings of this camera. It has been discovered that the speed camera, erected on a road where few incidents take place, has netted the local council 1.3m pound per year.

The controversial camera, which has been described as one of the most lucrative in Britain, has captured on average 1,843 motorists per month. And with the average fine for speeding 60, that equates to 1,327,140 each year.

The notorious speed camera was erected in 1999 in Poole, Dorset with the aim of catching motorists jumping the red lights were it is situated on a 30mph section of a dual carriageway. The camera became one of the first to be converted to catch unaware motorists speeding through green lights as well as red.

The camera was converted even though official stats showed there had been only one serious injury and no fatalities in at least 11 years. Motoring groups feared the camera was converted to in a move to ‘milk the motorist’ as the speed limit is also said to be to low for a dual carriageway.

The resulting low speed, the cameras position and the fact it has been converted to ‘catch all’ has led to such high volumes of issued tickets. The stretch of road the camera is on is a wide dual carriageway, with a harbour on one side and an industrial estate on the other with no residential home nearby. The income this camera is generating is well above normal, signifying something is seriously wrong.

This is not the only case of cameras earning vast numbers, In May this year a temporary speed Camera , situated on road works in Peterborough, issued an average of 3000 tickets per month, netting over 3.2m per year for the local council.

The CT 200h is the announcement of Lexus, entering the premium hatchback family car market. The CT 200h will compete directly against the BMW 1 Series and the Audi A3. What Lexus is offering in the CT 200h is what its competitors do not have and that is a full hybrid car.

The Lexus CT 200h will be powered by a 1.8L WT-i engine that should deliver more horsepower than the 1.8L on the Toyota Prius. The exterior styling of the CT 200h shows the distinctive styling of the Lexus L-finesse design philosophy. Its distinctive sharp-edged look sets it in its own class. The raked back windscreen, flowing roofline with the front and rear corners of the body pulled back in and the wings have all been styled to make the car as smooth as possible. The front grille sits on the top of a full length bumper and air dam. The headlamp units are positioned over the grille and have LED daytime running lights.

Lexus CT 200h will be officially launched in 2011 and will be sold in the US. This is the first hybrid car by Lexus and has everything to offer to make it a dream car. This hybrid car is a five door car with 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and magnet electric motor. It is definitely a combination of style and performance.

Since it is a hybrid car, it will be very useful for the environment as well one which makes it a wonderful car. Not only the drivers are going to love it but the passengers will also enjoy the ride. Even being the first hybrid cars, the performance of the car matches the performance of other Lexus cars. Since it is a car of Lexus, style has to be there and the car loo s extremely stylish yet elegant.

The interior is quite roomy, thanks to its long wheel base, and five adults can ride comfortably in it. The interior will have minimum external noise interference and dual zone climate control. The boot is also quite spacious and, with the rear seats folded, becomes cavernous. The CT 200h has been designed for the European market and Lexus knows that Europeans like cars with plenty of unobstructed boot space.

The driver is set low as the driver has four drive modes to select from. The different driving modes are; EV, ECO, NORMAL and SPORTS. In EV mode, the CT 200h will run on electric power only and can be driven for 1.2 miles at 28 mph. In Sports mode, the ambience of the cabin changes with the instruments light up, changing to red from blue.

The suspension system has been specially designed, and the car should offer a very smooth and comfortable ride on all road surfaces. Minimizing external noise, offering a luxurious interior and a smooth ride have been the hallmark of Lexus cars, and the CT 200h will not be any different.

The CT 200h is expected to go for sale in late 2010 all around the world, as a 2011 model. It promises to deliver class-leading fuel consumption and tax-saving emissions. It will only be available as a five door hatchback. Lexus expects to lure younger customers, who are looking for an affordable luxury car. That is one of the main reasons for offering a sports drive mode in the CT 200h.

Since Toyota launched the first hybrid car in its lineup- the Prius- there has been a lot of discussion on the pros and cons of hybrid cars. The hybrid car has two power sources- a petrol engine and an electric motor. There are two versions of hybrid cars, full and mild hybrid. A full hybrid, like the Toyota Prius, can operate in either electric or petrol only mode or a combination of both. The mild hybrid has an electric motor that assists the petrol engine.

The hybrid car is based on the fuel efficient gasoline engine, combined with the electric motor, in order to achieve the beneficial outcomes. The electric motor is the supporting element that assists the engine while accelerating. This electric motor is an automatically rechargeable power generator. This electric motor works together with the gasoline engine to power the car. Such arrangement is called parallel hybrid car arrangement. In other case, the gasoline engine powers the car directly or may power the electric motor to power the vehicle.

In either case, the batteries are charged by the regenerative braking system. This system enables to use the energy exhausted during the braking process. As the car slows down, the energy is utilised to recharge the batteries that empower the car.

Hybrid cars are the significant invention in the present scenario. This hybrid technology based automobile has given practical solution to the problems such as energy crisis and pollution. The rapid consumption of the natural fuel resources and their soaring prices has alarmed the society. The big automobile companies like GM and Toyota has found the solution in the hybrid cars. The whole automobile industry is rapidly switching to the hybrid car technology.

Hybrid cars also gain efficiency from smaller and more efficient petrol engines. Regenerative braking as mentioned earlier is the process where the electric motor that drives the hybrid can also slow the car. In this mode, the electric motor acts as a recharging generator and charges the batteries while the car is slowing down.

When standing at a traffic junction the hybrid car does not idle and the electric motor is turned off. It’s when you cross a certain speed the petrol engine starts up and takes over. When a burst of power or extra power is required the electric motor kicks in. If you pull away from a traffic light and cross the speed limit where the petrol engine takes over, the fuel saving is going to be marginal. This is no fault of the hybrid; it’s the driver who is to be blamed.

Advanced aerodynamics is used to reduce drag in hybrid cars. That is why most hybrid cars available today have really swoopy lines. This does account for cramped cargo space but makes for attractive profiles. Hybrid cars also use Low rolling resistance tyres. These narrow, stiffer tyres have less drag but do trade off braking stability. As it is, most hybrids available are not built for extreme speeds.

Lightweight materials being used increases the efficiency of hybrid cars. We all know that low automobile weight translates to better fuel efficiency. Simply put, your engine has less weight to push around, thus smaller, efficient engines are used and of course, the electric motor being used can be smaller in size also.

While hybrid cars have become the talk of the car enthusiasts around the globe, their life cycle has not been properly analyzed. Car enthusiasts, critics and experts analyze two main points of hybrid cars: their fuel efficiency and their life cycle. The first can be easily tackled as a hybrid car is more fuel efficient then a conventional car. Estimating the life cycle of hybrid cars is an unresolved issue. The reason is quite simple; hybrid car technology is very new and green. The earliest production model hybrid car is the Toyota Prius and it only came in the market eight years ago. Other cars from major car makers have also joined the hybrid car line up, but it is too early to analyze their life cycle.

The life cycle of hybrid cars depends on the technology used; whether the car is a full hybrid or a mild hybrid. A full hybrid utilizes the electric motor power to deliver power at low speed, like in city driving. At a higher speed, the petrol engine kicks in and takes over. It is like employing a different power source when cruising.

The hybrid vehicles use dual source of energy to operate which makes them highly environment friendly. They emit substantially less pollutants into the air in comparison to gasoline-operated cars. The amount of pollutants and harmful emissions is half when compared to conventional automobiles. The cost of purchasing a hybrid car is higher than conventional cars. But when you consider the overall expense of buying a car, a hybrid car will prove to be more economical.

According to a Lifecycle analysis of gas, hybrid and electric cars done by Sam Abuelsamid, the battery powered cars are more energy intensive to build than gas or hybrid cars. The primary reason for this is the cost of producing the batteries.

One of the major things that people want to know about hybrid cars is their life cycle. The major source of power in the hybrid cars is it battery, therefore, you need to know about the type of batteries available and their positive and negative aspects. The life cycle of hybrid cars partially depends upon the lifecycle of its batteries.

The lifespan of Prius, a hybrid car was compared to a mid-sized gasoline vehicle and the Prius came out better in the lifecycle assessment (LCA) for emissions of carbon dioxide, nitrogen and other unhealthy and undesirable emissions. The lifespan was taken as 10 years use/100,000km. It was further found that more CO2 is emitted during Prius- a hybrid car production but the Prius makes up for it over its driving lifetime.

The Nickel-Metal Hydride, generally known as NiCad or NiMH batteries, is normally used in the hybrid cars. Not only these types of batteries have the lowest density but they also have low cost. They are the cheapest ones to install. There are very few cars that have Lithium Ion batteries. Because of this aspect of batteries, the used hybrid cars are equally good in performance as the new hybrid cars.

In all these cases the hybrids cars are clear winners. As the petrol engines are smaller, and they use start/stop technology, they will last longer and require less servicing and maintenance costs. Some of the hybrid cars deploy more than a single electric engine; therefore buyers do not have to worry about replacement of equipment like carbon brushes of the electric motors.

Driving a convertible has constantly been about self-rule, exclusively liberty of selection. Lexus IS 250C gives you a pleasurable drive with the distinguishing characteristics of a lavishness convertible. The 2010 model of this car is a hardtop convertible, which looks spectacular from inside and outside with both alternatives of roof up or down. However, it is somewhat special from other Lexus cars.

The Lexus IS 250c scored five stars in Euro NCAP crash tests. This is the highest score a car can get in the test. Considering that the IS 250c is a convertible, makes this all the more astounding. The can has six airbags with side airbags to provide maximum safety to passengers in case of a side impact. It has a vehicle stability control system which ensures that the driver does not loose control of the car. There are integrated roll over hoops that protect rear seat passengers in case the car rolls over. The SE-L models come with a Pre Crash Safety system. In case a collision is imminent, it will deploy the seatbelt pretensioners and trigger the brake assistance system. This gives maximum braking power to the vehicle. The car has keyless entry, which means it is virtually impossible to steal the car.

The Lexus IS 250C is an absolute parcel with the appeal of a convertible, along with the magnetism of an exceptionally luxurious car. This unique coupe, mounted with a 2.5L, 204 HP V6 engine is a bit costly as matched up to the Lexus ES 350C, which has a 3.5L, 272 HP V6 engine. Fuel economy is where Lexus IS 250C has set its stain, giving 29 mpg on highways, which is the maximum among all, while Lexus ES 350C gives only 27 mpg.

The passive safety technology that is employed in the IS 250c employs a number of changes in the body structure. They help in augmenting the body strength and rigidity. The front seatbelts employ pretensioners and force limiters. The rear seats employ emergency locking retractor seatbelts.

The interior of Lexus IS 250C is roomy and comfy with the ability to seat 4 passengers, with somewhat lessened shoulder and hip room in distinction to other Lexus models like ES 350C and the GS 450h, which can easily hold 5 passengers.

The high intensity discharge headlamps with adaptive lighting system helps to light up the curve when the driver is turning the vehicle.

The driver can keep the key in a pocket or purse; thanks to the smart access keyless entry system and the push button start/stop system.

The safety connect service is available on both navigation and non-navigation versions of the IS 250c. This offers four system, automatic collision warning system, stolen vehicle location, emergency assistance button and enhanced roadside assistance.

The Lexus IS 250c is top rated car in terms of safety and security for a convertible.

Auto accidents are very common currently. Fast driving, not obeying traffic rules, unqualified drivers, terrible state of roads, weather conditions, and not well maintained cars are few of the reasons of accidents. We all must drive prudently and carefully, still, if we face an accident we should know what to do at once after the incident.

When your auto is hit by other one then you possibly be going through many mixed emotions like fury, terror, aggression and so on, however, the most excellent thing to do at that moment is to cool yourself down and have a deep breath. Instantaneously when you come back in your senses, you must have a look at your body and the other persons which are with you. If you find an injury, then contact ambulance at once.

The next move should be to call the police. It is always advisable to call police even if you involve in a minor accident. Don’t leave the scene unless your file is completed. The police have authority and are responsible to investigate the incident and make a thorough report. Furthermore, wherever any information is needed to anyone the police provide all the detailed information. Police report is always helpful for the insurance company to process your claim quickly, so you must always give it a priority.

To clear your situation, take pictures of the site and exact spot. You can simply do it if you have integrated camera in cell phone. Note down the facts of the colliding car such as its shade, model-make, and registration number. Also record the details of the driver which should include driver’s name, contact address, and cell number. Drawing the sight on the paper will also be useful. You should draw it carefully keeping in mind the side from which the cars are coming and how it actually took place. If there is some eyewitness, note down his/ her name, address, and contact number. The witness is useful if the other driver don’t commit his mistake even if he is responsible.

After this, you must get in touch with your insurance group. It would be better for you if you get in touch with them when the police officer is on the sight. The officer can clarify the complete event better than you as you might not be in your full senses to describe the happening to your insurance company’s agent. By doing this your insurance claim will be processed fast and it would save your costly time. Once this early process is finished by the insurance company, you must continuously keep a track of them for the claim.

If you involved in a minor accident then to keep yourself at bay from hassle, don’t make a contact with the police and straighten out the issue all by yourself. The one who makes out he/she is guilty should pay damages to other, otherwise, everyone should follow the lengthy procedure and that will not be worth your precious time.

On the other hand, the money may be coming from the insurance company for the repairs, but keep in mind you have to control the repairs. You might also get less money than the market value for repairs.

It is seen that people do not read the insurance policy carefully when they buy it. You must read the insurance policy before you sign it, because when the accident occurs you feel the importance of payment issue from the insurance company.
